A political storm has erupted in Telangana after the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) issued a sharp and satirical response to Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha following her announcement of a new political party under the name “Telangana Rashtra Sena” (TRS), intensifying what is being seen as a public rift within the family of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
Kavitha, who has reportedly been at odds with the BRS leadership in recent times, formally launched her new party at a public meeting in Medchal on April 25, choosing to revive the earlier “TRS” name that was closely associated with the Telangana movement before it was rebranded as BRS, a move widely interpreted as an attempt to reclaim the party’s original ideological identity and legacy.
Reacting strongly, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi social media wing posted a satirical message that quickly went viral, sharing images of duplicate consumer brands alongside a caption reading “Original is always original,” in an apparent dig at Kavitha’s move, suggesting that BRS remains the authentic political force while portraying her new party as an imitation.

The exchange has further escalated political tensions, especially in light of Kavitha’s earlier suspension from BRS over alleged anti-party activities, with both sides now engaging in a public narrative battle on social media, drawing mixed reactions from supporters and political observers, and indicating that the political contest in Telangana could become more intense in the run-up to future elections.
