The case of Indian student Saket Srinivasaiah (22), who was pursuing higher education in the United States, has ended in tragedy. Saket, a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering student at the University of California, Berkeley, went missing unexpectedly on February 9. Following a complaint from his friends, local authorities launched a search operation and later discovered his body in a forested area a few kilometers from the university.

Saket, originally from Bengaluru, Karnataka, had completed his graduation at IIT Madras before moving to the U.S. to pursue higher studies. Police reported that he was last seen near Lake Anza in the Berkeley Hills. During the investigation, his passport and a bag containing a laptop were found in the forest shortly before authorities recovered his body.

The Indian Consulate in San Francisco expressed deep anguish over the incident. The consulate officially confirmed Saket’s death and stated that arrangements are underway to repatriate his body to India as soon as possible. Officials assured full support to Saket’s family during this difficult period.

The untimely death of a promising young student has sent shockwaves through the Indian diaspora and his native community in Bengaluru. The incident has highlighted the tragedy of a bright life cut short far from home, leaving friends, family, and fellow students in profound grief.
