Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reacted to the Telangana municipal election results, calling them an endorsement of the state government’s welfare-oriented policies. Speaking on X, he said the people of Telangana supported a government committed to social justice, dignity, and inclusive development. He thanked every Congress worker and leader for their efforts, describing the victory as “yours, the people of Telangana’s.” Gandhi added that the vision of governance reaching every household is steadily progressing.
Across the state, elections were held in 116 municipalities covering 2,582 wards. Congress won 1,347 wards and secured 66 municipalities, while the ruling BRS claimed 717 wards and 13 municipalities. The BJP won 261 wards, and independent candidates secured 256 wards. No single party achieved a majority in 36 municipalities, resulting in hung councils in these areas.
The Telangana local body polls win is a clear endorsement of Congress govt's people-first policies rooted in social justice, dignity, and inclusive growth.

In the seven corporation elections, Congress emerged victorious in Mancherial, Ramagundam, and Nalgonda. The BJP, with support from independent candidates, won the Karimnagar Corporation. Other corporations witnessed hung councils due to the absence of a clear majority, highlighting the competitive nature of Telangana’s local political landscape.
The results demonstrate Congress’ strong performance in the local polls and signal continued political competition with the ruling BRS and other parties across Telangana. Analysts suggest the outcome reflects public support for governance focused on social welfare, inclusive growth, and community development.
