The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is advancing at a rapid pace, with major tech companies increasingly relying on AI for automation. Giants like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Meta, TCS, and Infosys have continued implementing layoffs as AI tools streamline operations and reduce dependence on human labor.

Recently, Microsoft’s AI Chief Executive Mustafa Suleyman issued a warning that within 12 to 18 months, a significant portion of white-collar jobs could face automation. He emphasized that AI’s impact will extend beyond software developers and coders, potentially affecting accountants, lawyers, project managers, and marketing executives who work primarily on computers.

In a related warning, Hyperwrite CEO Matt Schumer compared the rise of AI to the global COVID-19 crisis in a viral social media article titled *“Something Big is Happening.”* Schumer cautioned that just as the world underestimated COVID-19 in early 2020, people are similarly underestimating AI today. He predicted that the societal and workplace changes AI will bring could surpass the scale of the pandemic.

Schumer highlighted that AI could impact nearly any job performed on a computer, including coding, writing, legal work, analysis, and customer service. He noted that while older AI models merely followed instructions, new models like GPT-5.3 Codex demonstrate an ability to understand context and make appropriate decisions. Experts advise using AI not just as a search tool but as a productivity-enhancing instrument to navigate the future workplace.
