The United States has launched a concerted effort to bring an end to the nearly four-year-long Russia-Ukraine war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that the Trump administration has set a deadline for both sides to reach a peace agreement by June this year.
Zelensky noted that if a settlement is not achieved by June, the U.S. may apply significant pressure on both Russia and Ukraine. “The Americans are proposing to end the war by early June, and according to this schedule, they may increase pressure,” he said. Washington is reportedly pushing for a clear timetable to complete the peace process within the set timeframe.
Following stalled discussions in Abu Dhabi, Ukraine has agreed to hold the next round of tripartite talks in the United States, likely in Miami. The move comes as efforts to advance negotiations in the Gulf region failed to yield progress.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to demand that Ukraine withdraw from the occupied Donbas region, a demand firmly rejected by Kyiv. Analysts say this indicates that while U.S.-led pressure may push talks forward, key territorial disagreements remain a major obstacle to a resolution.
