The State Election Commission has announced single-phase elections for 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations across the state, with polling scheduled for February 11 and vote counting on February 13. Following the release of the schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect statewide, excluding GHMC limits. A total of 52.43 lakh voters will exercise their franchise at 8,195 polling stations, with polling to be held from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Keeping in view Shivaratri and the commencement of Ramadan fasting, the Commission has fixed January 28 as the start date for the nomination process. The last date for filing nominations is January 30, scrutiny will be conducted on January 31, and candidates can withdraw their nominations till February 3.
State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini finalized the election schedule after holding a video conference with district collectors, superintendents of police, the Director General of Police, and the Chief Secretary to review poll preparedness and administrative arrangements across all districts.
