State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has strongly condemned the abusive social media campaigns targeting women IAS officers, describing them as “despicable and unacceptable.” Speaking to the media on Saturday, the minister said he was being mentally harassed by the ongoing smear campaign. “If someone wants to kill me, give me poison and do it. I have little interest left in life,” he said, expressing deep anguish over the personal attacks.

The minister criticised the use of abusive language against senior officers, including Collector Harichandan, calling it unacceptable. “Media colleagues also have sisters and family members. Imagine how it would feel if such content was written about them,” he questioned. Komatireddy appealed to stop the mental harassment and said he had instructed the DGP to conduct an inquiry, promising that the truth would emerge within 20 days and strict legal action would be taken against those responsible. He also clarified that the Nalgonda district collector transfers were solely a Chief Ministerial decision and should not be linked to him.

On travel arrangements during the Sankranti festival, the minister said the government was ensuring smooth movement for commuters between the Telugu states. He noted that nearly 9.97 lakh vehicles crossed state borders during last year’s festival and projected that the number could reach 12 lakh this year. Anticipating heavy congestion on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway, he advised commuters to use alternative routes such as Hyderabad–Kurnool. Officials have been directed to allow vehicles to pass without collecting toll fees if congestion exceeds limits, though the Centre has not granted Telangana toll-free permission.

Regarding infrastructure development, Komatireddy said the six-laning work on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway would be completed by next year. He further revealed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) had been invited for a high-speed rail project aimed at reducing travel time between the two cities, signalling continued investment in improving road and rail connectivity in the region.
