Pakistan-backed terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed is reportedly preparing to set up new training camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), intelligence sources have warned. The group is said to be planning week-long training programmes starting January 1, aimed at intensifying its activities to create instability in India. According to inputs, the camps will be held from January 1, 2026, for seven days at strategic locations in PoK.
Newly recruited militants are expected to be trained in the use of weapons, guerrilla warfare tactics and cross-border infiltration methods. The training is likely to be conducted under the supervision of senior Jaish-e-Mohammed commanders, with suspicions of indirect support from Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. The camps are reportedly being planned near launch pads close to the Indian border.
Intelligence agencies believe the strategy is to enable easy infiltration into India during the snowfall period immediately after the training concludes. Following these developments, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Army have intensified patrols along the Line of Control, deploying advanced drones to detect suspicious movements along the border.
Despite past precision strikes such as ‘Operation Sindoor’ that damaged terror infrastructure, officials believe terrorist groups are attempting to regroup. Border village residents have been alerted to help thwart infiltration attempts. After terror attacks in areas such as Pahalgam last year, the Indian government adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against terrorism, while repeatedly raising concerns at international forums over terror groups operating from PoK. The Indian Army, officials said, remains fully prepared to deal with any situation.
