Campaigning for gram panchayat elections has intensified across villages, with many young candidates showing keen interest in contesting and making a mark in grassroots politics. Candidates are presenting detailed manifestos, promising to implement various development schemes if elected, and vowing to resign if they fail to deliver.
In Rangareddy district’s Kothapeta village, Pasula Vanamma Narasimha Yadav has pledged Rs 5 lakh life insurance per household for 700 families, bearing the cost herself. Her 15-point manifesto includes financial support under the Bangaru Thalli scheme for girl children, assistance for marriages, monthly medical camps, surgical aid of Rs 15,000, housing support, free school supplies, scholarships for higher education, establishment of a village library, community meals during festivals, installation of CCTV cameras, and support for cremation expenses.
In Gadwal district’s Salkapuram village, candidate Anjaneyulu has filed his nomination with a 22-point manifesto, also signed on a Rs 100 bond paper, pledging to resign if he fails to fulfill the promises. His key proposals include providing an ambulance, free helmets for two-wheeler riders, fencing for the BC cremation ground, drinking water facilities, financial aid for widows’ housing, free gas cylinders, construction of village roads, and installation of CCTV cameras.
The ambitious manifestos reflect a competitive election season at the village level, with candidates aiming to win voter confidence through comprehensive welfare and development pledges.
