Following the BRS’s defeat in the Jubilee Hills by-election, Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha’s tweet sparked a major controversy. Soon after the results were announced, Kavitha posted, “Karma hit back,” which many netizens interpreted as a veiled criticism of the BRS party. In response, BRS supporters launched a strong counter, with some commenting that enemies do not reside far away but are often found close in the form of sisters and daughters, accusing Kavitha of causing “emotional damage.”

The Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election results, announced on Friday, saw Congress candidate Naveen Yadav emerge victorious with a significant majority. This by-poll, triggered by the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath, was viewed by Congress as a referendum on the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Congress claimed the victory as an endorsement of the Chief Minister’s leadership and the government’s performance. Despite intensive campaigning by BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, the party’s candidate failed to win. The BJP’s candidate, Lankala Deepak Reddy, came in third place, securing only 17,061 votes, and losing his deposit.

Congress’s victory in Jubilee Hills bolstered its position in the Telangana Assembly, raising its seat count to 66 out of 119. Political analysts suggest that the outcome could have significant implications for the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, where the Congress is now seen to have a stronger foothold in the region.
