First Phase of Bihar Assembly Elections Concludes with 60.18% Voter Turnout

The first phase of polling for the Bihar Assembly elections concluded today with a voter turnout of 60.18%. Voting began at 7 AM across 121 constituencies in 18 districts and ended at 5 PM. The highest voter turnout was recorded in Begusarai district, while polling was completed in all the districts. A total of 1,314 candidates contested in this phase, and voting was conducted at 45,341 polling stations, with more than 400,000 polling staff deployed to ensure the smooth process. The Election Commission has announced that the second phase of polling for the remaining 122 constituencies will take place on November 11.

In terms of turnout, districts such as Madhapur (65.74%), Muzaffarpur (65.23%), Samastipur (66.65%), and Begusarai (67.32%) reported high voter engagement, while other districts such as Munger (54.90%) and Sheikhpura (52.36%) had lower turnout percentages. Key districts like Patna and Nalanda recorded a turnout of 55.02% and 57.58%, respectively.
