Machado, 57, born in Venezuela, holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Andrés Bello Catholic University and a master’s in Finance from Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (IESA). She served in Venezuela’s National Assembly from January 2011 to March 2014 and was barred from holding office for 15 years in June 2023.
Despite escalating authoritarianism under Nicolás Maduro, Machado has remained steadfast in her fight for democratic rights and civil liberties. She played a critical role in consolidating opposition forces, advocating for free elections, and challenging government overreach.
