Bhadrachalam (Telangana): A 17-year-old girl from Chhattisgarh was allegedly gang-raped by a group of auto drivers in Bhadrachalam, sparking outrage in the region. Police said the girl had travelled to Charla on Saturday evening to visit relatives and boarded an auto bound for Wajedu. During the journey, she was reportedly offered a soft drink laced with sedatives and subsequently assaulted.
Local residents, who found the girl in distress, shifted her to a care centre and alerted the police. Authorities confirmed that the girl bore visible injuries and registered a case of gang rape. A medical examination was conducted, and officials have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
Police teams are currently searching for the suspects across Charla, Dummugudem, and Palvancha station limits. Meanwhile, residents of the area have expressed strong anger over the incident and demanded strict punishment for those responsible.
