Nellore: A late-night attack on the residence of senior YSRCP leader and former MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy on Tuesday has triggered political tension in Nellore district. The incident drew strong reactions from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, who condemned both the violence and the personal remarks made in the political discourse.

In a sharp statement, Pawan Kalyan took serious objection to the personal comments made by Prasanna Kumar Reddy against Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy. He stated that making offensive remarks against a woman public representative is unacceptable and warned that strict action would be taken against leaders who resort to such language. “Such indecent behaviour led to YSRCP’s defeat in the past. Leaders who speak in a manner that disrespects women will be held accountable under the law,” he said, urging YSRCP leaders to distance themselves from such practices.

Meanwhile, Prasanna Kumar Reddy alleged that the attack on his house was an attempt on his life. He claimed that had he been present during the incident, he would have been killed. He also revealed that his elderly mother, who was alone at home, was threatened by the attackers. Reddy stressed that while criticism and counter-criticism are part of politics, violence should have no place. He maintained that he stands by all his statements and expressed disappointment over the alleged involvement of the Vemireddy couple in what he called a politically motivated act.
