Director Sekhar Kammula, fresh off the success of Kubera, is reportedly gearing up for a woman-centric film featuring actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu in a powerful lead role. Kubera, which starred Nagarjuna, Dhanush, and Rashmika Mandanna, grossed around ₹100 crore at the box office and earned critical acclaim, further boosting Kammula’s standing as a filmmaker known for meaningful cinema.
According to industry sources, while Kammula had originally planned to begin his next project with actor Nani, scheduling constraints have led to a change in plans. Nani is currently occupied with The Paradise, a project expected to take up to two years to complete. In the meantime, Kammula is said to be moving forward with the Samantha-led film, which is likely to go on floors by the end of this year.
Samantha, who has previously expressed interest in working with Kammula, is expected to portray a powerful and emotionally layered character. The filmmaker has a notable track record of crafting strong roles for female leads—Kamalinee Mukherjee in Anand and Godavari, and Sai Pallavi in Fidaa and Love Story—all of whom received significant acclaim following their collaborations with him.
