Sattenapalli police have registered a case against former Andhra Pradesh minister Ambati Rambabu on charges of obstructing police duties and misbehaving with law enforcement personnel. The incident took place on Wednesday near Kontepudi during YSRCP leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit. Ambati allegedly removed barricades placed on the road, leading to a confrontation with police officers. A video of the episode, showing Ambati removing the barricades, has since gone viral on social media.
Police have booked Ambati under IPC Sections 188, 332, 353, and 427. The altercation occurred when police had set up a checkpoint near a petrol station in Korrapadu, located on the Guntur-Palnadu district border, to manage traffic congestion caused by Jagan’s rally. While Jagan’s convoy was allowed through, the police halted other vehicles to maintain order, prompting Ambati to question the delay and attempt to remove the barricades himself.
Earlier in the day, Jagan unveiled a statue of YSRCP worker Nagamalleswara Rao in Rentapalli, Sattenapalli mandal. His rally proceeded through Guntur and Nallapadu toward Palnadu district. Meanwhile, a tragic incident was reported in Etukuru, where an elderly man was killed after being hit by a vehicle that was part of the convoy.
