Hyderabad: The commission probing alleged irregularities in the prestigious Kaleshwaram irrigation project, set up by the Revanth Reddy government, is nearing completion. Constituted in March 2024 under the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court judge Justice P.C. Ghosh, the commission was tasked with completing the inquiry within 100 days.

The commission summoned over 100 officials and engineers and compiled a comprehensive report of nearly 400 pages. It was anticipated that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, former Finance Minister T. Harish Rao, and ex-Finance Secretary Etela Rajender, who played key roles during the previous BRS government, would be called for public hearings.

However, as the probe draws to a close, sources reveal that the commission has decided not to summon any political leaders for public examination, citing concerns over potential legal complications. Instead, the final report will rely primarily on documentary evidence.

The commission is expected to submit its report to the government between May 22 and May 24, ahead of the deadline of May 31. Early indications suggest the report may clear KCR, Harish Rao, and Etela Rajender of any wrongdoing in the Kaleshwaram project.
