New Delhi/Islamabad: Pakistan has sparked international outrage after its minister Rana Tanveer Hussain confirmed that the government would fund the reconstruction of terror infrastructure destroyed during India’s Operation Sindoor, a counterstrike conducted in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

As per official sources, the Indian Air Force had carried out precision strikes on nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), reportedly eliminating over 100 terrorists, including key operatives such as Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar. The strikes were seen as a strong response to escalating cross-border terrorism.

Despite a return to ceasefire terms between the two nations, Pakistan’s stance has raised eyebrows globally. Speaking to the media, Minister Rana Tanveer announced that the Jaish stronghold “Markaz Taiba” mosque—demolished in the Indian operation—will be rebuilt using government funds. He also revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir would personally contribute to the restoration work.

In a further controversial move, Pakistan has reportedly announced ex gratia payments of Rs 1 crore for each terrorist killed in the airstrikes. Sources claim that the family of Masood Azhar could receive as much as Rs 14 crore in compensation.

Additionally, reports suggest that the Pakistan Army participated in the funerals of several slain militants, further fuelling accusations that the Pakistani establishment continues to support and shelter terrorist organisations.

India, along with several global powers, has condemned Islamabad’s move, calling it a blatant violation of international norms and a reinforcement of its state-sponsored terror networks. Analysts warn that such actions undermine regional peace and stability and call for increased diplomatic pressure on Pakistan.
