Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress Party has been struck by tragedy with the passing of former Uppal MLA, Bandari Rajireddy. He passed away on Thursday at his residence in Habshiguda after battling prolonged health issues.
Born in 1945 in Nacharam, Rajireddy pursued his education at the District Parishad School in Mallapur. He entered politics through the Congress Party and served in various roles within the unified Rangareddy district. In 2009, he was elected as the MLA for Uppal, defeating his TRS rival Muthireddy Yadgiri Reddy by a margin of 28,183 votes.

Rajireddy also served as a member of the TTD Board in 2012. In the 2014 Telangana Assembly elections, he refrained from contesting and instead supported his brother, Bandari Lakshmareddy, who eventually lost the election. Lakshmareddy later joined the BRS and won the Uppal seat in the 2023 elections. Rajireddy’s death is a significant loss to his family and the Telangana Congress Party.
