In a significant development amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan has been dismissed from service for marrying a Pakistani national in secret and allowing her to remain in India after her visa had expired.

The jawan, identified as Munir Ahmad from the 41st Battalion of CRPF, reportedly married the Pakistani woman via video call in May 2024. The woman subsequently arrived in India on a valid visa. However, authorities revealed that Ahmad failed to report the marriage or her arrival to his superiors, violating CRPF protocols.

The matter came to light during a nationwide review initiated after the Pahalgam incident, during which the central government ordered all Pakistani nationals residing in India to return to their country. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the woman had overstayed her visa and continued to reside with Ahmad, who did not disclose her presence.

CRPF officials stated that the decision to terminate Ahmad’s employment was based on a serious breach of service conduct and potential risks to national security. “The jawan violated established service rules by concealing the marriage and providing illegal shelter to a foreign national. His actions were found to be inconsistent with the standards expected of a CRPF personnel and posed potential security concerns,” a CRPF spokesperson said.

Authorities are currently reviewing the circumstances surrounding the woman’s overstay and the implications of the incident from a security standpoint.
