Nalgonda: A fresh fire incident was reported at the Nagarjuna Sagar Earth Dam premises in Nalgonda district on Sunday, marking the latest in a series of such occurrences at the site. Flames broke out suddenly near the main Earth Dam, spreading along the stretch from the dam point to Shiva Park, completely destroying trees and dry vegetation along the path.
CCTV cameras and certain electrical components were damaged in the fire. According to reports, the blaze began around noon, and fire service personnel rushed to the scene after being alerted by locals. Though the flames were eventually brought under control, considerable damage had already occurred by the time the fire was extinguished.

This is the latest in a string of fire incidents at the dam. On March 19, a similar fire scorched the same stretch, while on February 15 and 21, forested areas nearby witnessed fires that reduced large patches of trees and plants to ashes.
Officials attribute the recurring fires to extreme heat and the presence of dry grass during summer. However, amid ongoing disputes between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over Krishna river waters, suspicions of deliberate sabotage have also emerged, though no official confirmation has been made.
Forest officials have begun an investigation into the latest incident. Meanwhile, the repeated occurrences have raised alarm among residents in the region, who are calling for enhanced surveillance and preventive action to safeguard the dam infrastructure
