Gannavaram, Andhra Pradesh : A disturbing case of abduction and gang rape has come to light in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district, raising serious concerns over rising crimes against women and minors.
Incident Details
On March 9, a minor girl from Veerapanenigudem village in Gannavaram mandal went missing after stepping out of her friend’s house at night. She was allegedly abducted by a group of youths, who held her captive in the outskirts of the village and sexually assaulted her for three days.
Police Action and Arrests
After being released, the victim was sent away in an auto-rickshaw by the accused. With the help of the auto driver, she reached the Vijayawada police station and reported the crime. Following a formal complaint, the case was transferred to the Atkuru police station.
Based on CCTV footage, the police identified and arrested eight suspects involved in the assault. Among them, one had recently appeared for his 10th-grade examinations. All accused are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
