Experts Dr. Rahul Bansal and Dr. Manjit Singh shared their wisdom at MDNIY’s health camp, emphasising the importance of holistic wellness. Here are the key takeaways from their insightful lectures.

Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga organised a ‘Free Health Check-up & Awareness Camp’ as part of ‘Health promotion camp special campaign 4.0’. This camp held at in MDNIY premises had facilities of check up on various health parameters like Heart Rate & Blood Pressure, Body Composition Analysis, Random Blood Glucose Test, Heart Rate Variability, Strength and Flexibility Testing and Lung Function Testing. Drawing active participation from staff, students, and local community members, this camp also facilitated Yoga Therapy Sessions and Diet Consultancy.MDNIY Yoga

The program included two awareness lectures on ‘Health Promotion through Lifestyle Modification’. The first lecture delivered by Professor Dr. Rahul Bansal, Department of Community Medicine, Chairman, Wellness Centre, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University engaged the audience with an innovative presentation. He utilised newspaper cuttings to highlight alarming reports on the detrimental effects of junk food, a sedentary lifestyle, substance abuse, and excessive mobile phone usage. He emphasised the significance of Yoga, pranayama, wholesome food, good sleep, and holistic living in mitigating these issues.MDNIYDr. Bansal inspired the audience to adopt healthy food choices. He referred to ‘The China Study’, the greatest study till now conducted for eight years on 5000 people which showed that a plant-based diet is the best diet in the world. He referred to a report that highlighted the positive effects of a vegetarian diet in reducing coronary heart disease.

Dr. Bansal also recommended books like ‘How Not to Die’, ‘Reversing Heart Disease’, ‘The Relaxation Response’, ‘Love & Survival’, ‘Eat, Move and Sleep’ to get inspired for healthy living.

In the second lecture, Dr. Manjit Singh, Physician & Neurologist, Ex Add. MS Safdarjung Hospital, shared his transformative journey from conventional allopathy to embracing allied sciences like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Yoga. Recognizing the limitations of allopathy in addressing Pranic Energy, Dr. Singh explored these alternative disciplines, collaborating with experts and experimenting with innovative approaches.MDNIY Health Camp

Dr. Singh further emphasised upon the crucial role of the mind management and practicing spirituality to cultivate overall well-being as mind has a tendency to create positive as well as negative mindsets. He also underscored the importance of Pranayama, stating, “Regular practice of Pranayama is essential for maintaining a healthy mind and gut, leading to enhanced physical and mental resilience.”

Dr. Rameshwar Pal, Assistant Professor, Human Physiology, MDNIY and Dr. Suman Rathore, Assistant Professor, English, MDNIY coordinated the program.
