The swearing-in ceremony of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay was held in a grand manner, marking his formal assumption of office. Immediately after taking charge, he signed his first official file, which included a key welfare decision to provide free electricity up to 200 units for households. The move signalled the beginning of his administrative priorities focused on public welfare measures.
In addition, Vijay approved proposals for the formation of an anti-drug task force and a special unit dedicated to women’s safety. These early decisions reflected his government’s focus on law enforcement, social welfare, and public security. Officials described the signing of the initial files as a strong indication of his governance agenda.
Following the formal procedures, the Chief Minister delivered an emotional and politically significant address. He stated that a “people’s government” has now come to power in Tamil Nadu, marking the beginning of a secular, social, and justice-oriented era. He also highlighted his personal journey, noting that he has overcome several struggles to reach the position of Chief Minister.
Vijay further stated that the new government would focus on fulfilling realistic promises made to the people. He alleged that the previous administration left the state’s finances in a weak condition and requested time to implement key commitments. He assured that only achievable promises would be made and delivered in governance.
Concluding his address, Vijay thanked all those who supported the formation of the government. He emphasized equal treatment under law for all citizens and rejected any form of nepotism. He also asserted that TVK has a single leadership centre, identifying himself as the core authority within the party’s governance structure.
