The United States and Iran have reached a landmark peace agreement, bringing an end to months of heightened tensions that had pushed the Middle East to the brink of conflict and sparked widespread global concern. President Donald Trump officially announced the deal, declaring that the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical chokepoints for oil transit — will henceforth be open to unrestricted passage, free of any tariffs or levies.
In the wake of this historic development, Trump has ordered the United States Navy to immediately lift its blockade on Iranian ports and rescind all associated naval restrictions. Expressing visible enthusiasm, the President took to his Truth Social account to address the global shipping community directly, urging vessels to resume oil transit through the Strait without delay. Trump expressed gratitude to all parties who contributed to making the agreement possible, though the full terms and detailed provisions of the deal are yet to be officially disclosed.
Iran, for its part, responded positively to the American announcement, with Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi confirming that an understanding had indeed been reached with Washington. He stated that the agreement is expected to bring an end to the war-like atmosphere that had gripped the region, and revealed that both sides had engaged in prolonged, confidential negotiations over the past 60 days. The formal signing of the accord is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on June 19.
Nevertheless, Iran signaled a degree of cautious skepticism toward its longtime adversary. Gharibabadi made clear that reaching a deal does not equate to placing complete trust in the United States, adding that Tehran would closely monitor Washington’s adherence to the commitments made under the agreement. Should the peace deal be fully implemented, military operations currently underway not only within Iran but also in Lebanon and other conflict-affected areas across the Middle East are expected to cease entirely.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also confirmed the international peace agreement, indicating that the formal signing ceremony between the two nations is likely to be completed by next Friday, June 19. Analysts anticipate that the accord will help stabilize global oil prices and provide significant relief to the world economy.
