The issue gained traction following a recent live television interview where Trump reacted sharply to questions referencing a shooting incident linked to a suspect’s alleged manifesto.
During the interview, a female anchor read excerpts from a letter allegedly written by the accused shooter, Cole Allen, who had opened fire at a dinner event hosted by Trump. In the letter, Allen reportedly claimed he would target officials in the Trump administration and used highly inflammatory language describing individuals he considered criminals.
