New Delhi Railway Station witnessed a major stampede on platforms 13 and 14 as a massive crowd of passengers attempted to board trains simultaneously. The incident, which occurred amid an overwhelming rush, left at least 15 people injured, with several passengers collapsing due to the chaos.
The stampede was triggered by a surge of devotees traveling to Prayagraj for the ongoing Kumbh Mela. Despite the railway authorities arranging two special trains to manage the crowd, the heavy weekend rush resulted in overcrowding. Officials at the station stated that the situation escalated as large groups of passengers attempted to board at the same time.
Rescue operations are currently underway, and the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals. Further updates on their condition are awaited.
