New details have emerged in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, revealing that his fiancée Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary had allegedly plotted the killing well in advance. Police investigations found that despite getting engaged to Ketan in February, Siya had secretly married Chetan at a sub-registrar’s office nearly four months ago under the Special Marriage Act. Although Ketan and Siya’s wedding was scheduled for November, Ketan died under suspicious circumstances on June 18 after falling from Lohagad Fort.
Police believe Siya, unwilling to go through with the wedding, conspired with Chetan to murder Ketan. Investigators say the urgency behind the killing stemmed from preparations for a lavish destination wedding planned by Ketan’s family in Udaipur in November, for which they had requested some of Siya’s key identity documents. Fearing that handing over these documents would expose her secret marriage and land her in legal trouble, Siya allegedly plotted with Chetan to eliminate Ketan before the wedding could take place.
Police confirmed that on June 18, Chetan followed the couple to the fort and pushed Ketan into the gorge. Pune Rural Police are verifying the marriage certificate’s authenticity, questioning witnesses who signed it, and cyber teams are attempting to recover deleted Instagram photos from the ceremony. Both accused remain in custody.
