Given this reputation, many had felt that it would be a good thing if he entered politics, believing he could go on to support even more people in that capacity.
Against this backdrop, speculation has been rife over the past few days that Lawrence is set to make his political entry soon. Reports suggested that he would contest the by-election from Tiruchi East, the constituency from which Chief Minister Vijay had resigned, on behalf of the TVK party. However, responding to this speculation, Raghava Lawrence delivered a big shock to CM Vijay, clarifying his stance and explaining his decision to his fans.
As for what exactly Lawrence said and what decision he has taken — in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu elections, CM Vijay contested from two constituencies and won both, subsequently resigning from the Tiruchi East seat. This made a by-election for that constituency inevitable. It was at this point that speculation intensified over whether Vijay’s TVK party would field Raghava Lawrence for that seat.
