Tamil Nadu politics has taken a dramatic turn amid intensifying post-election realignments, as actor Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) continues efforts to consolidate support for potential government formation. The evolving situation has triggered fresh instability within established Dravidian parties, particularly the AIADMK.
According to political developments, reports have emerged suggesting that five to six senior AIADMK MLAs may be inclined to extend support to TVK. The alleged shift in loyalties comes at a crucial juncture, as TVK is engaged in negotiations to secure the numbers required for forming a government, leading to heightened political uncertainty in the state.
In response to the internal situation, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami convened an emergency meeting of party MLAs. However, the absence of five key legislators from the meeting has raised serious concerns within the party leadership. The missing legislators reportedly include former ministers C.V. Shanmugam, S.P. Velumani, M.R. Vijayabhaskar, along with MLA Leema Rose and another member. Reports further suggest that the group held a separate meeting in Chennai’s MRC Nagar, intensifying speculation of a possible internal split.
Sources indicate that the dissident MLAs have been in preliminary discussions with TVK leadership regarding potential support arrangements, depending on post-poll political scenarios. The developments have added a new layer of complexity to government formation talks, with shifting alliances emerging as a key factor in determining the state’s political future.
Meanwhile, TVK’s election strategist Adhav Arjun is said to be playing a significant role in the evolving political equation, although there has been no official confirmation of these reports. Political analysts note that if the reported alignment of MLAs materialises, it could significantly weaken AIADMK’s position in the Assembly and alter the balance of power, further intensifying the ongoing political flux in Tamil Nadu.
