New Delhi: Confusion has emerged over the recently released CBSE Class 12 board examination results, with reports of widespread concerns regarding evaluation and answer sheet handling. Allegations of discrepancies, including mismatched answer scripts, have triggered a large number of verification requests from students across the country.
According to official data, out of 17,68,968 students who appeared for the examinations, around 4,04,319 candidates—nearly 23 per cent—have applied to view scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets. The figure reflects that nearly one in four students has sought access to their response scripts following the declaration of results.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) stated that it evaluated more than 98 lakh answer sheets this year using its on-screen marking system. So far, 8,98,214 answer scripts have been digitally made available to students who requested access, while the remaining applications are expected to be processed by May 27, as per the Board’s timeline.
Meanwhile, CBSE has announced that the re-verification and re-evaluation process will begin on May 29. However, several students have reported technical difficulties, including delays in downloading answer scripts, portal glitches, and issues with the clarity of scanned copies. These concerns have led to growing calls from some students and stakeholders for a return to manual evaluation methods.

In a separate development, controversy erupted after a 19-year-old student claimed that he had hacked the CBSE on-screen marking system. The Board has strongly rejected the allegation, clarifying that the portal mentioned is an internal examination system that does not store actual student data. CBSE further stated that the claims are baseless, even as the student allegedly circulated screenshots and video clips on social media, intensifying the debate.
