New Delhi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has executed Shehzadi Khan (33), an Indian woman from Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the death of a child under her care. While the execution was carried out on February 15, 2025, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) recently disclosed the information to the Delhi High Court.

Background of the Case

Shehzadi Khan had traveled to Abu Dhabi on a tourist visa four years ago and later took up employment. In August 2022, her employer entrusted her with the care of their newborn child. Reports indicate that Shehzadi administered multiple vaccinations to the infant, who later passed away on December 7, 2022.

Following the child’s death, the employer filed a complaint, accusing Shehzadi of being responsible. A video confession of Shehzadi admitting to the charges was presented in court, leading to a death sentence.

Family’s Plea and Execution

After the sentencing, Shehzadi’s family approached the Delhi High Court, alleging that she had been tortured and coerced into confessing. In May 2024, her father filed a clemency petition, which was rejected.

Despite legal efforts, the execution was carried out on February 15, 2025. The MEA recently confirmed the development to the Delhi High Court, bringing the case into public focus.
