Union Minister Amit Shah participated in the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) foundation day celebrations held at Kondapavuluru near Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He dedicated the South Campus of the National Institute of Disaster Management to the nation. Addressing the gathering, Shah spoke about the progress and support extended to Andhra Pradesh.
Shah criticized the YSR Congress Party (YSCP) government, stating that the destruction caused by the previous administration is well known. He assured that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the state would achieve three times the development. Shah emphasized that the central government had provided ₹3 lakh crore worth of assistance to the state in the past six months and announced an Rs 11,440 crore package for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to the development of Amaravati, revealing Rs 27,000 crore assistance through HUDCO, and assured that the Polavaram project would be completed by 2028. Additionally, he confirmed that the Visakhapatnam railway zone had been approved.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu responded, stating that the central government had allocated Rs 15,000 crore for the development of Amaravati, and work was progressing. He reiterated that the Polavaram project would be completed by April 2027, with support from the central government. Naidu also thanked the center for the Rs 11,440 crore package for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the foundation of the Visakhapatnam railway zone. He urged continued central support for the Godavari-Banakacharla project and credited the TDP government for allocating land for NDRF and NIDM facilities.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also addressed the event, emphasizing the formation of disaster management teams at the grassroots level and coordination with NDRF teams. He highlighted the central government’s support in protecting the state from previous disasters and driving development under the current coalition government. Kalyan noted that the ongoing assistance from the central government in the last six months had been invaluable for Andhra Pradesh.
