Hyderabad: The Nampally Court has issued summons to Telangana Minister Konda Surekha in connection with a defamation case filed by actor Nagarjuna. The court has directed the minister to appear for a hearing on December 12 and provide an explanation.
The case stems from allegations made by Nagarjuna that Konda Surekha’s comments regarding his family were defamatory and tarnished their reputation. In his petition, the actor demanded criminal action against the minister. The court, after reviewing the petition, instructed Surekha to appear in person and present her clarification.

Minister Apologized but Nagarjuna Proceeds Legally
The controversy arose from Konda Surekha’s remarks during the high-profile divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha. Despite the minister issuing an apology and withdrawing her statements, Nagarjuna pursued legal action, filing a defamation suit in the Nampally Court. He maintained that her comments caused significant damage to his family’s dignity and sought appropriate criminal proceedings.
Surekha, in her apology directed at Samantha, stated, “My remarks were intended to address broader societal attitudes and not to demean Samantha personally. Her journey is inspirational. I unconditionally withdraw my comments if they caused any distress.”

Samantha Responds
Samantha responded to the controversy by urging respect for personal boundaries. She stated, “My divorce is a mutual decision and a private matter with no political involvement. As a public figure, I expect my personal life to be respected. I take pride in my journey and hope public figures understand the implications of their statements.”
