Hyderabad Police to Register Criminal Cases for Unauthorized Stickers, Traffic Violations

The Hyderabad Police have announced a stringent crackdown on traffic violations, introducing criminal cases against offenders in addition to fines. Vehicle owners using unauthorized stickers, such as “MLA On Duty” or “On Government Duty,” will face criminal charges under the Motor Vehicles Act, according to the department’s latest directive.

The decision follows observations that certain individuals are misusing such stickers while simultaneously flouting traffic regulations. Authorities noted instances where some vehicles display stickers to gain undue privileges, often leading to violations and misuse.

A significant issue identified involves vehicle owners renting their cars to government employees and leaving “On Government Duty” stickers attached even after the rental period ends. Many such vehicles have been found breaking traffic rules.

In a recent case at Santosh Nagar, police stopped a high-end vehicle with an “MLA” sticker and a siren. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the car was not associated with any MLA’s family but belonged to a real estate company that had unlawfully affixed the sticker. The vehicle was also found to have prohibited black films on its windows.

The Hyderabad Police have stated that the new measures aim to ensure stricter adherence to traffic regulations and curb the misuse of stickers for personal gain.
