For the past few days, a Twitter war has continued between Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and actor Prakash Raj. Recently, a media journalist asked Prakash Raj, “Why are you angry with Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan?” Responding to this question, Prakash Raj launched another scathing attack on Pawan Kalyan, expressing frustration with what he termed as the actor-politician’s “foolish and destructive politics.” He criticized Pawan Kalyan for allegedly stirring religious discord among people, questioning if this was truly the reason people elected him. Prakash Raj further stated that he does not agree with Pawan’s actions, claiming, “If no one else will speak up, I’ll do it,” a statement that has since gone viral on social media. Meanwhile, Pawan’s fans and Jana Sena supporters have expressed outrage toward Prakash Raj.
Past Criticisms of Pawan
This isn’t the first time Prakash Raj has openly criticized Pawan Kalyan. He often states that while Pawan utilizes his cinematic fame in politics, he hasn’t demonstrated enough sincerity when it comes to the public’s future. In the controversy surrounding the “Tirupati laddu,” Prakash Raj took issue with Pawan’s stance, suggesting that Pawan would be more effective if he acted not just as a politician but also as a responsible individual.
While Pawan Kalyan has previously claimed that he entered politics solely for the people, Prakash Raj urged him to stay focused on solving public issues rather than engaging in what he called “destructive political governance,” which he argued only harms people’s sentiments.
Tirumala Laddu Controversy and Escalating War of Words
The dispute between the two intensified during the Tirumala laddu adulteration controversy. Reacting to this, Prakash Raj questioned why Pawan was politicizing the issue, asserting it was a state matter and advising Pawan to uncover the truth and punish those responsible. Pawan, in turn, lashed out, questioning why Prakash Raj was even involved in the laddu controversy, and clarifying that he had never intended to demean any religion. Since then, Prakash Raj has continued targeting Pawan on Twitter.
Prakash Raj recently tweeted, “One persona before winning… a different one after… Why the confusion? What’s real? Just asking.” While participating in a book launch in Tamil Nadu, Prakash Raj praised Tamil Nadu’s Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin for advocating equality, subtly contrasting him with Pawan Kalyan, whom he accused of making divisive statements about “Sanatana Dharma.” Prakash Raj concluded by stating, “They fear when I question. I’ll always speak for the underprivileged.”
