The political situation in Khammam has become highly charged due to the ongoing floods. The relentless rainfall over the past three days has severely affected Khammam and the surrounding areas. In response, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with government officials, has visited the flood-affected areas and assured support to the victims. This visit led to criticism from CM Revanth towards BRS leaders for allegedly neglecting the flood victims.
On Tuesday, as key BRS leaders visited the flood-hit Munneru area, tensions escalated significantly. Vehicles of the BRS leaders, including Harish Rao, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, and Nama Nageswara Rao, were attacked with stones by Congress workers. The Congress activists chanted slogans of “Go Back” and pelted stones at their cars. Reports indicate that one BRS worker sustained a leg injury, and Nama Nageswara Rao’s car was completely destroyed in the attack.
Responding to the incident, K.T. Rama Rao expressed strong anger, describing the attack as a “Congress hooligan assault” in Khammam. He condemned the attack on BRS leaders and labeled the attack on the vehicles of former ministers Harish Rao, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, and Sabitha Indra Reddy as a sign of Congress’s frustration. He criticized the Congress for being incapable of providing aid to the people and instead attacking those who are helping. He demanded that the Congress government, including the Chief Minister, take responsibility for the incident. KTR emphasized that no matter how many attacks are carried out, the BRS will continue to reach out to the people, and the public is keenly observing the ineffectiveness and incompetence of the Congress government. He warned that the Congress will inevitably face consequences for their actions.
