SANAA, Yemen: Yemen’s Houthi rebels said on Sunday they carried out six operations against Saudi Arabia using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and explosive-laden drones, a major escalation in the widening conflict across West Asia. The claim was made by Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree.
Saree said the first operation struck King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, and hit oil storage tanks and a distillation tower belonging to state-owned Aramco. Attacks on infrastructure central to global energy supplies have rattled international markets.
The second operation targeted large oil facilities in the Khurais area, Saree said. A third strike hit Pumping Station No. 8 in the Dawadmi region. If confirmed, the attacks would place key parts of Saudi Arabia’s oil infrastructure at serious risk.
The remaining three operations were aimed at Saudi military personnel and bases, according to Saree. He said a Saudi National Guard camp in the Najran region came under heavy drone and missile attack, causing a large number of troop fatalities and extensive property damage.
The Houthi claims could not be independently verified, and Saudi authorities have not publicly responded.
