Oil companies have handed out a sharp shock to households relying on LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) for domestic use, warning that consumers must immediately complete the e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process for their connections or risk having their cylinder supply cut off. As is known, August 16 has been set as the final deadline for completing this process. However, gas distributors have already begun unofficially enforcing this rule a full week ahead of the deadline, causing serious concern among consumers. Even as the cylinder booking process is going through successfully, distributors are stopping the actual delivery at the doorstep, citing pending e-KYC as the reason.
Telangana is estimated to have over 1.3 crore domestic gas connections statewide. On an average day, around 2 lakh bookings typically come in for refills. However, only around 1.7 lakh cylinders are currently being supplied per day. Distributors say that the majority of the roughly 30,000 refills being held back each day involve connections where e-KYC has not yet been completed. They have made clear that around 26 lakh connections in the state — over 20 percent of the total — are still pending e-KYC completion.
Consumers must therefore complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC without fail in order to continue receiving gas subsidy and domestic pricing benefits. Indane, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas customers can complete their e-KYC from home. Beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) too must complete Aadhaar verification in time, failing which they risk facing disruptions in receiving their LPG subsidy.
Indane Gas: Indane customers have the option to complete biometric Aadhaar authentication (e-KYC) from home, for which biometric Aadhaar authentication is mandatory. This can be completed through a mobile phone, for which two apps need to be downloaded — the “Indian Oil One” app and the “AadhaarFaceRD” app — which are used for biometric verification through a face scan. Users should first open the Indian Oil One app and sign up using their registered mobile number or email ID. After logging in, they must click on “Link My LPG ID” and enter their 16-digit LPG ID, which is available on the cash memo or subscription voucher. They should then go to the “My Profile” section on the home screen, open the “Indane Details” option under the LPG section, click on “Re-KYC,” and accept the terms and conditions. Following this, clicking “Proceed” and completing biometric Aadhaar verification through the “Face Scan” option will complete the process.
HP Gas: For e-KYC, customers need to download two apps — the HP Pay app and the Aadhaar FaceRD app — which are used to complete biometric verification through a face scan. Users should first log in to the HP Pay app using the mobile number linked to their HP Gas account, go to the LPG section on the home screen, and click on “e-KYC.” After accepting the terms and conditions, they must click on “Capture Face,” which will open the Aadhaar FaceRD app. Completing the face scan there will finish the e-KYC process.
Bharat Gas: Bharat Gas customers need to install the “Hello BPCL” app and provide the requested details within it. They should then click on the “e-KYC” or “Biometric Authentication” option to complete the process.
Overall, in order to continue receiving LPG subsidy and domestic pricing benefits, consumers must complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC by August 16, 2026. Missing the deadline risks disruption to both cylinder booking and subsidy benefits.
