The prolonged student agitation over the leak of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) question papers has triggered nationwide political uproar. Abhijeet Deepke, founder of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), played a key role in this struggle, emerging as the lead protester and drawing national attention.
After nearly 36 days of the nationwide student agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi — conducted in scorching heat and pouring rain — came to an end, Abhijeet Deepke arrived on Wednesday at the airport in his hometown of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, where he received a grand welcome.
Speaking to the media at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport, Abhijeet Deepke launched a scathing attack on the central government. His remarks targeting the performance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are currently causing a major stir in political circles. Abhijeet mocked that it would be better if Narendra Modi immediately resigned as Prime Minister and became a social media influencer instead. Criticizing that Modi was performing the job of an influencer far more effectively than his duties as Prime Minister, he opined that someone else more deserving should be given the responsibility of the PM’s office.
He strongly condemned the police attack with pellet guns on students who were peacefully protesting at Jantar Mantar during the Parliament March on July 20. He demanded strict legal action against the officials who authorized the attack, as well as against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, whom he held responsible. Abhijeet made it clear that it was deplorable for police to threaten to go to students’ homes and arrest them, stressing that students are not terrorists. He warned that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan alone had not cooled the students’ anger, and that if the government did not change its stance, the youth would unite and change the government itself.
He criticized the central government’s newly introduced ‘Prevention of Examination Malpractices Amendment Bill-2026′ as being confined merely to paper. He pointed out that although the Prime Minister had promised fast-track courts for hearing paper leak cases, the very first hearing was postponed because the CBI’s lawyer failed to appear, slamming the government for lacking people who properly enforce the laws.
Abhijeet’s mother, Anita Deepke, speaking to the media, revealed the reason behind the formation of the Cockroach Janata Party. She said many students who suffered due to the NEET paper leak had died by suicide, and that it was during that time a victim’s family from Nagpur met Abhijeet, shared their anguish, and urged him to fight on this issue — which is what drew him into this movement. Anita Deepke recalled that in the early days after launching the CJP, their family received serious threats. She revealed that because of videos threatening that “your parents will face trouble if you don’t join the BJP,” they had to leave Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and take shelter at relatives’ homes in the Konkan region for about a fortnight.
Anita also said that with the nationwide recognition Abhijeet has gained through this student movement, he is now receiving a large number of marriage proposals. She said that Abhijeet, who had earlier said he would marry only after becoming financially independent while studying abroad, is now expected to get married by January 2027. She added that the family would support whatever decision their son makes, and that after he returns home from Delhi, they would provide complete clarity on both his marriage and his future course of action.
