Fresh details are emerging every day in the missing persons case of Gade Saikrishna from Krishnalanka, Vijayawada — a case that has sent shockwaves across the state. Just as the government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to crack the case, police have uncovered crucial evidence pointing to the involvement of Task Force personnel in Saikrishna’s disappearance, causing the investigation to accelerate sharply.
The chain of events stretching from Markapur in Prakasam district to Vijayawada has emerged as the most critical thread in the entire case. Police have established that Vijayawada Task Force Sub-Inspector Naveen, upon learning that Saikrishna was in Markapur last May, travelled there along with two constables. Strong evidence has now come to light that SI Naveen’s team travelled to Markapur covertly in a private vehicle — not in any official government vehicle — detained Saikrishna there, and brought him back to Vijayawada.
The police department reacted sharply once this came to light. Senior officials have recorded statements from Additional DCP Lathakumari, Task Force SI Naveen, and the two constables who accompanied him to Markapur — all of whom are considered key figures in the case. The investigation is now intensely focused on whose orders the Task Force team was acting under when it travelled that far in a private vehicle to pick up Saikrishna, and who the higher-ups behind this operation are.
Krishnalanka Circle Inspector Nagaraju has already been suspended by the government, and the fresh revelation of Task Force police links has now sent further ripples through the police department. The SIT led by Inspector General Ravi Prakash is pressing ahead more forcefully with the investigation — using these new leads to lift the curtain on what happened to Saikrishna after he was brought to Vijayawada, and whether anything was done to him inside the police station itself.
