Nadyal: Andhra Pradesh is grappling with another tragic bus accident, adding to growing concerns over road safety in the state. The incident occurred in Nandyal district’s Sirivella Mandal near Sirivellametta when a private ARBCVR Travels bus, carrying 36 passengers from Nellore to Hyderabad, lost control around 2:00 AM on Thursday after a tyre burst. The bus mounted a divider and collided head-on with an oncoming container lorry, resulting in the immediate deaths of the bus driver, lorry driver, and a cleaner, while multiple passengers sustained injuries.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the bus caught fire immediately after the collision, and a nearby DCM driver intervened to help passengers escape by breaking the bus windows. Over ten passengers sustained minor injuries while jumping out, and all luggage aboard the bus was destroyed in the fire. The lorry was also engulfed in flames, leaving the bodies of those killed unrecognisable.

Police and emergency services reached the site promptly, providing assistance and transferring the injured to Nandyal Government General Hospital. The authorities have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the accident, while highlighting the growing need for stricter safety measures on highways.

This latest tragedy comes just a day after a student tour bus accident in the state, raising serious concerns about the safety of passenger transport in Andhra Pradesh and prompting calls for improved road safety protocols and regular vehicle inspections.
