Scientists at IIT Delhi have developed an innovative mosquito-repellent washing powder designed to provide protection against diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, which spread rapidly through mosquitoes in India. Unlike traditional methods such as coils, sprays, and creams, this powder embeds specialized mosquito-repellent chemicals into fabric fibers during washing, creating a protective barrier that lasts for 10 to 15 days after a single wash. Researchers emphasized that the powder does not emit any strong odor, making it suitable for everyday use, especially for children and individuals spending time outdoors at night.

Having successfully completed the experimental phase, the project is now ready for commercial production. This development highlights how technological innovation can be applied to everyday life to enhance public health and prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases in an affordable and accessible manner.
