Ahmedabad: The 70th Filmfare Awards 2025 ceremony was held in Ahmedabad with grandeur and fanfare. The event saw the film Lapata Ladies creating a sensation by winning awards in 13 categories, an achievement rarely seen in Filmfare history. Previously, only Gully Boy had set a similar record.
The ceremony was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Manish Paul, with star-studded dance performances by Shah Rukh Khan, Kriti Sanon, Kajol, and others. Lapata Ladies won awards across major categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Ravi Kishan, Best Supporting Actress for Chhaya Kadam, Best Debut Actress for Nitanshi Goel, as well as technical awards for Best Screenplay, Best Dialogue, and Best Music Album.

Other notable winners included Alia Bhatt for Best Actress for last year’s Zigra, Abhishek Bachchan for Best Actor for I Want to Talk, and Kartik Aaryan for Best Actor for Chandu: Champion. Best Debut Director awards went to Kunal Khemu for Mudgav Express and Aditya Suhas Jambhale for Article 370. Arijit Singh won Best Playback Singer (Male) for Sajini from Lapata Ladies, Kill won Best Action, and Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to veteran actress Zeenat Aman and the late director Shyam Benegal. Critics’ awards went to Rajkummar Rao (Best Actor) for Srikant, Pratibha Ranta (Best Actress) for Lapata Ladies, and Best Film (Critics) to I Want to Talk, directed by Shoojit Sarkar.
