A married woman in Krishna district’s Pamarru Mandal died after consuming pesticide, following alleged sexual harassment by a local man. The victim, identified as Vasantha (24), a homemaker from Komaravolu S.S. Colony, was married to Medapati Praveen Raju, a rod welder, and the couple had two sons. Police reported that a private bus driver from the same village, Merugumala Pawan, had repeatedly harassed Vasantha despite family warnings, leading her to attempt suicide on Friday evening.

She was immediately taken to Gudivada Government Hospital in a critical condition but succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Her family members staged a road blockade on the Pamarru-Digamarru National Highway demanding the immediate arrest of the accused, who is currently absconding. Pamarru police assured the protesters that a thorough investigation is underway.

Pamarru Sub-Inspector Rajendra Prasad registered a case and is actively investigating the incident. Authorities are working to apprehend the accused, while the victim’s body was later handed over to her family for last rites. The case has drawn significant local attention, highlighting issues of harassment and safety for women in the area.
