In a separate incident in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, two daughters-in-law allegedly spiked tea served to their in-laws and children before eloping with a neighbor, Arif, with whom both had extramarital affairs. The women, identified as Kulchan Mallik and Najma Mandal, are married to brothers Yasin Sheikh and Anisur Sheikh of Malida village. After a complaint was lodged at Bagda Police Station, police tracked the women through mobile networks and brought them back for counseling. Shockingly, during questioning, both confessed they were in love with Arif and wanted to be with him. The episode created a stir locally, though police noted that unlike other extreme cases, no harm came to family members.
