Konaseema, Andhra Pradesh: A surge of venomous jellyfish along the shores of Antarvedi in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district has triggered concern among residents and tourists. Belonging to the Hydrozoa class, these marine organisms—locally known as Aggibata—have been spotted in large numbers, prompting authorities to urge the public to exercise caution.

Strong coastal winds are believed to have pushed these jellyfish ashore. Health experts warn that even accidental contact or handling due to their attractive appearance can lead to adverse reactions, including nausea, headaches, vomiting, allergic rashes, and severe itching. Although saltwater can offer temporary relief, medical intervention is advised if symptoms persist.

Officials have clarified that while the jellyfish stings are generally non-fatal, in rare instances, severe complications could arise. Visitors are being strongly advised not to touch the jellyfish and to seek immediate medical attention if stung.
