Hyderabad: Leading Tollywood producer Dil Raju has made a candid admission, describing the high-budget film *Game Changer* as a major error in his career. In a recent interview, the seasoned filmmaker reflected on the challenges of production and stated that his decision to back the film turned out to be a “wrong step.”
“Many things happened with director Shankar without my involvement. When working with top directors, we often have limited control. But as a producer, it was my responsibility to intervene when things went wrong, and I failed in that,” Dil Raju said. He openly referred to Game Changer as a significant misstep.
The remarks have drawn wide attention in the Telugu film industry, especially given Dil Raju’s long-standing reputation for backing successful projects. Starring Ram Charan and directed by Shankar, Game Changer was made on a reported budget of over ₹400 crore. Despite high expectations, the film underperformed at the box office, resulting in substantial losses.
However, Dil Raju found some relief with the success of Sankranthiki Vastunnam, which released around the same time and fared well commercially. His remarks have since sparked debate over the risks involved in high-stakes collaborations and the role of producers in large-scale projects.
