Hyderabad: Superstar Rajinikanth has lauded the upcoming film “Kannappa” following a special screening hosted by veteran actor Mohan Babu and lead actor-producer Manchu Vishnu. The exclusive show was held for Rajinikanth on Saturday night. After watching the film, the superstar reportedly embraced Vishnu and expressed his admiration for the movie. Vishnu shared the experience on his official X account, stating that the praise from Rajinikanth had filled him with renewed enthusiasm.
Last night, @rajinikanth uncle watched #Kannappa. After the film, he gave me a tight hug. He told me that he loved #Kannappa.
I’ve been waiting 22 years as an actor for that hug!!!
Today, I feel encouraged. Humbled. Grateful. #Kannappa is coming on 27th June and I can’t wait… pic.twitter.com/HDYlLuDsdc

However, the film, scheduled for release on June 27, is facing hurdles over alleged controversial content. A section of the Brahmin community has raised objections, claiming that several scenes in the movie demean their beliefs. In response, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has intervened, with an 11-member committee flagging 13 scenes as potentially offensive.
The CBFC has asked the filmmakers to remove the contested scenes and re-submit the film for approval. Sources suggest that if the deleted content includes critical plot points, reshoots may be necessary. This has cast uncertainty over whether “Kannappa” will hit theatres on the scheduled date or face a postponement. The makers are yet to officially comment on the revised timeline.
