Vijayawada: Authorities of the Kanaka Durga Temple have announced that the Ghat Road leading to the Indrakeeladri hill shrine will remain closed to devotees for three days, from May 6 to May 8, due to essential repair and safety works.
The decision comes in light of preventive measures being taken to avert potential rockfalls. The works include installation of protective mesh and other maintenance tasks along the ghat section. During the closure, devotees are advised to use the alternate Kanakadurga Nagar route to access the temple.

Temple officials stated that free shuttle bus services will be arranged from designated parking locations to the temple premises during this period. Vehicles arriving from Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and other regions will be directed to park in the holding area near Seethamma Vari Paadalu. From there, pilgrims will be transported to the hilltop via temple-operated buses at no cost.
The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam Executive Officer confirmed that all necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate smooth and safe access to the temple while the Ghat Road remains closed.
